The latest phone to come out from Oppo is the RX 17 an upper mid-range er with an in display fingerprint reader and maybe some of the fastest charging. we've seen on a phone. These features don't come cheap though so was it worth the premium. I'm will this is our Oppo Rx 17 pro. The Oppo RX 17 is the international version of the r7 t which is found in select markets. The two are identical and have a glass build with an aluminum frame like many high-end phones. We've seen in 2018 you can easily see the family resemblance to the one plus 60 the glass back is curved and tapered so the phone feels sleek and thin in the hand but here the glass is quite shiny and colorful our emerald green model has a gradient from black to green depending on how it catches the lights. We prefer their radiant mist version though which has more brilliant colors in a less slippery matte finish flipping over to the front. We have a tall edge-to-edge AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 6 the bezels including the chin are remarkably thin up at the top is you guess it's an arch cutout and here is in the rounded water drop style there's no option to hide it with a black bar there isn't a notification LED up there but you can keep the time date and battery bar on the display when it's off it won't show notifications though when a new one comes in the screen will turn on and go to the lock screen. the screen itself is six point four inches with a 1080p resolution at 402 PPI content looks sharp and blacks are super deep as you'd expect from an AMOLED color accuracy is just average though whites are a bit on the blueish side when it comes to brightness the screen goes up to 450 5 nits at maximum respectable though not the highest we've seen but still sunlight legibility on this panel is one of the best in the business you won't have any trouble using this phone outdoors another neat thing about this display is the fingerprint reader which is embedded underneath unlike a traditional reader. Just press the glowing icon on the screen to wake up and unlock the phone if you want there's also face unlock which works flawlessly and it's almost instantaneous the Oppo RX 17 Pro has a single bottom firing loudspeaker to the left of the USBC ports it gets quite a loud scoring very good in our tests and the output is clean unfortunately there isn't a 3.5-millimeter jack and our review unit didn't come with a USBC adapter for headphones there is a pair of USB C earbuds included in the Box through the RX 17 Pro is pretty impressive storage wise there are 128 gigs of onboard memory as standard and it is expandable through micro SD. We noticed that the card tray has a seal on it which should help make it more watertight so although the phone doesn't have any official water resistance maybe it could withstand the splash or two at the heart of the Oppo Rx 17 pros as a 10 nanometers Snapdragon 710 chipset along with six or eight gigs of RAM it's a bit disappointing that at this price point we don't get a full-fledged Snapdragon 845 that said it's still an excellent upper mid-range chip more powerful than the Snapdragon 616 overall performance is great not top flagship level but solid and fast and we didn't notice any overheating or throttling the Oppo rx 17 pro has the same battery capacity as a1 plus 60 at 3700 milliamp hours however we were surprised that his battery life is significantly lower probably due to software optimization the Oppo scored an endurance rating of 80 hours and our proprietary tests versus the one plus is 90 however the Oppo has a trick up its sleeve and that's the supervolcano to 93% in half an hour incredible topping off for just a few minutes will literally get you to the top the RX 17 pro runs opos color OS 5.2 over Android 8.1 Oreo it offers some features you don't see in stock Android color OS includes an edge panel when you swipe on it you get a customizable space which can hold various shortcuts speaking of panels swiping to the left gives you even more space to store things like the weather more app shortcuts or a daily steps tracker swapping down from the home screen opens up an app search so you can easily find the app you need it's too bad that there's no app drawer here look at all that empty space this also introduces another problem to pull down the notification shade here you need to stretch all the way to the top and swipe down from there on the positive side there is a theme store with plenty of options to customize them look of your home screen and you can opt to navigate using gestures rather than on-screen keys swiping up from the middle and holding it summons the task switcher swiping up from the left or from the right of that access back and swiping up from the middle goes home the Oppo RX 17 Pro comes with a triple camera set up on the back, however, is only the 12-megapixel main camera.
